Event Details
The first online symposium of 2024 which aims to explore and highlight research perspectives on palliative care outside the traditional Global West context, and open up a discussion on challenging Western dominance in this area of study and research.
We are honoured to have speakers from outside Lancaster University. Presentations include:
- Reflections on the controversies and future directions of advance care planning: Perspectives from Indonesia (Dr Diah Martina, Palliative Care Physician, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia)
- Taiwanese family caregivers’ experience of preparing for the death of a relative: A reflexive thematic analysis (Huiju Liang, Postgraduate Researcher, International Observatory on End of Life Care, Lancaster University)
- Dignity in palliative care: Patients and family caregivers’ perspectives from Lebanon (Dr Silva Dakessian Sailian, Assistant Professor, Hariri School of Nursing, American University of Beirut)
- Insights from COMPASS-Ghana and Global South research perspectives (Dr Yakubu Salifu, Lecturer in Palliative Care, International Observatory on End of Life Care, Lancaster University)
This online-only event will be held using Microsoft Teams, with the opportunity for questions at the end of the symposium.
