The Racial Equality Charter is hosting their monthly Anti-Racist talk on the lunch break, and this month's event will be focused on Disability Pride Month.

The Racial Equality Charter is organising a collaborative session to create an anti-racist campus. This session is aimed to promote acceptance and appreciation of each individual's uniqueness during Disability Pride Month. This is a part of our regular monthly Anti-racist talk. While ableism is a problematic construct for recognising "success" in the modern world, we wish to honour the pride of being "disabled". Therefore, we want to hear our life stories and seek to understand the intersectionality of 'disability' within the context of a racially stratified society.

Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion team, as well as our staff and students, will feature expert speakers who will share their insights. One of them is Hannah Rosbrook-Brown, who will present her ideas on 'Race and Disability: A compounding issue'.

We believe that everyone deserves to be heard and valued, regardless of their race or disability status. We hope that this session will be a platform for us to learn from each other and work towards creating a more inclusive campus.

Thank you for your participation and we look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

The event will be held on Library C130, from 12:00 to 13:30 on Tuesday, 7/18/2023.

This event is open to staff and students at Lancaster University, but registration is required.

A vegetarian lunch will be provided.
