The department continued its longstanding tradition of taking PG students on a hike in the nearby Lake District or Yorkshire Dales. This year, we visited the Lake District and walked from Ambleside to Grasmere via Loughrigg Terrace.

We had great fun enjoying spectacular views, crossing rivers on stepping stones, and climbing in and out of caves. The sun shone brightly for us all day allowing a picnic by the lake and even a spot of wild swimming for some to cool off. And, of course, no day out in the lakes would be complete without a delicious ice cream!
