MA student wins international dissertation award

Alina Reid

We are pleased to share the news that MA in Language Testing student Alina Carastoian Reid has won the 2020 Caroline Clapham IELTS Masters Award, awarded by the IELTS partners – the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English.

In her dissertation research, Alina explored how English second language learners complete tasks with multiple reading texts on which they need to write a summary. The study investigated to what extent these tasks elicit authentic cognitive processes, and whether there are any differences depending on the topic of the texts and the number of texts in the tasks. Alina was supervised by Professor Tineke Brunfaut.

Congratulations to Alina on this international recognition of her innovative study!
