Medical Sciences Research

Medical Sciences

Lancaster Medical School house a number of clinical academics, academic and clinical researchers working to improve outcomes for patients through research and innovation.

Working with colleagues across the University and the NHS, we explore underlying mechanisms of disease, develop novel diagnostic techniques, test new treatments and assess their implementation in routine practice.

Methods used range from clinical trials, health data linkage, evidence synthesis, biochemical, cell and molecular biology, and qualitative research, to novel spectroscopic techniques.

Current areas of interest include palliative medicine, metabolic bone disease, cerebrovascular disease, neurological disorders, diabetes, obesity, respiratory medicine, cancer, genome stability and DNA repair, and anaesthesia.
