PPR is a dynamic and research active department that is home to internationally recognised research in Politics, Philosophy and Religious Studies. Due to our unique structure were are leaders in multi- and inter-disciplinary research in our various disciplines.
We have a wide range of research strengths and expertise and offer a vibrant and supportive place for researchers at all career stages from senior Professors to new PhD students.

In the 2021-22 REF, research by staff in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster University was ranked 2nd in the UK for research power & 8th in the UK for research environment. 88% of our research rated world-leading or internationally excellent. Impact
In PPR we treat impact and knowledge exchange as essential parts of our research agenda. We are developing innovative forms of public exchange work and strong relationships with non-HEI agencies and communities, as ways of stimulating new questions and research agendas. All our areas of research and associated centres and groups have links with external bodies that use academic research in relation to religion, health, policy, peace, and other issues.
