Engaging with Parliament and Government

Houses of Parliament

The Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) will be hosting an in-person training session on campus this June, providing practical advice on how to engage and influence policy making in Parliament and Government.

The University’s collaboration with IPT aims to ensure that academics’ voices are heard.

The popular, interactive training session will take place in person on Tuesday 14th June, 10am-1pm, Bowland North SR10 covering:

  • An overview of Parliament
  • Opportunities to influence, including parliamentary questions, Select Committees and All-Party Parliamentary Groups
  • Engaging with MPs
  • Research in Government
  • The role of ministers and civil servants

IPT trainer, Huw Edwards (not the BBC news presenter!) will also host a question and answer session providing advice on any specific examples of policy engagement that you might have experienced or need guidance on.

Please book your place and register on the Organisational Development and Educational Development event page.
