About this Publication Scheme
For the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Lancaster University is classed as a public authority, meaning that it is subject to the Act. Section 19 of the Act mandates that Public Authorities must make certain information publically available. A Publication Scheme is a clear and structured way of presenting this information. Lancaster University’s Publication Scheme has been designed in line with the Information Commissioner’s Office Model Publication Scheme for higher education institutions.
The Publication Scheme is a guide to the information that the University proactively publishes in order to comply with our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The following categories of information are available:
- Who we are and what we do
- What we spend
- Our priorities
- How we make decisions
- Policies and procedures
- Lists and registers
- The Services we offer
Using the Publication Scheme
If you wish to see information about ‘What we spend and how we spend it’, click on the corresponding tile. This will take you to another page which contains a breakdown of the detailed information available, e.g. Financial statements. If you cannot find the information you require, it may be that it is not proactively made available within the Publication Scheme and you may be required to make a Freedom of Information request.
Paper copies
Paper copies of information contained within the Publication Scheme will be available in most cases. However, the University reserves the right to restrict some documents so that they will only be available to inspect, rather than provide paper copies.
