The Confucius Institute is offering 2 weeks of Online activities, intended to introduce basic Chinese language and culture. Week 1 is open for KS2 children (age 7-11).

Lancaster University Confucius Institute (LUCI) would like to welcome KS2 children (and interested parents) to join us for a fun set of activities, all designed to teach the basics of Mandarin Chinese language.

We will be running 2 online sessions each day. Each day's activities will run from 10:00am to 10:40am, then breaking for 10 minutes, before resuming at 10:50am, and finishing at 11:30am.

Each day is designed to introduce an area of Chinese language or culture, with a basic objective intended for everyone to reach. These will include:

• Day 1 (Greetings & Characters): Introducing yourself and asking for someone's name in Chinese. / Learning about the history & design of Chinese characters.
• Day 2 (Family): Learn how to can address family members and introduce them in Chinese. / Create a family tree for yourself using Chinese characters.
• Day 3 (Numbers & Life in China): Learning how to count in Chinese & talking about your age. / Learn about Chengdu, a city in China.
• Day 4 (Animals & Painting): Learn how to identify different animals in Chinese. / Try painting a Giant Panda!
• Day 5 (Food & Drinks): Learn how to talk about different food & drink in Chinese. / Learn how to make a Chinese meal of Scrambled egg with Tomato.

Information for Parents/Carers:

1. Tickets for this event are intended for the full week. If a child cannot attend on a certain day, please contact us at ci@lancaster.ac.uk
2. Attendance for this event is free of charge, but please purchase 1 ticket for each child attending, so we can keep track of numbers.
3. After registering, we will contact you by email for details of all attending children, and to provide full details for the event.
