Attendees to the BRI Conference stand for photos outside the Roundhouse.

This symposium was in an effort to bring together scholars with an interest in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), from different organisations across Asia, North America, and Europe.

The symposium, held from 26th - 28th September, was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute and Lancaster University China Centre (LUCC), around LUCC’s key themes of:

  1. China and environmental sustainability
  2. China and transport, communication, and infrastructure
  3. China’s cultural emergence, exchange, and governance

We were delighted to receive attendees from across the globe, including among others, Princeton University in the U.S, Sunway University in Malaysia, and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), as well as a delegation from Sichuan University in China.
