Careers Showcase: Working in and with China

On Wednesday 7th December 2022, the Careers Showcase: Working in and with China took place at Lancaster University Management School. This event was co-organised by Lancaster University Confucius Institute and Lancaster University Management School as an opportunity for all students at Lancaster University to speak to a wide range of employers.

At the careers showcase companies including Xiaomi, Fuuse, Quastels, Rebel Unicorn, Ping Wei, Shandong Province Companies and EIC Education came to chat to students about employment opportunities while a wide range of companies joined online to speak to students, including:

· Hisense International

Hisense Group has now officially launched campus recruitment in 2023, providing more than 500 domestic and international posts across different functions such as finance, product management, sales, marketing, supply chain management and R&D. At present, Hisense owns two listed companies-- Hisense Electric (600060) and Hisense Kelon Electrical (000921), and owns many brands including Hisense, Toshiba, Gorenje, Kelon and Ronshen.

· Hays

Hays introduced their company and their competitive advantages. They discussed the role of recruitment consultant, and what employees will learn and gain on the job as well as the career path and learning and development opportunities at Hays.

· CPA Australia

CPA Australia is one of the largest accounting bodies with more than 170,000 members working in over 100 countries and regions.

Moon Yates, Senior Business Development Manager from CPA Australia spoke about how being a Certified Public Accountant gives both world-renowned status and access to a network of knowledge and industry experts as well as opportunities in Asia and around the world.

· Nanjing Talent Station

Nanjing Talent Station is a publicity and display platform for Nanjing's urban and industrial characteristics, and talent policies, as well as a one-stop service platform for overseas talents to apply for employment and start a business.

Nanjing Talent Station gave an introduction of corporate jobs being released on the official website of Nanjing Talent Station and hosted a Q&A session for student to ask questions related to Nanjing Talent Station and Nanjing.

They invite overseas innovative and high-level talents to apply for jobs.

· Gotion High-Tech Co. Ltd

Welcome to Gotion—To Make Green Energy Accessible and Sustainable

Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd introduced the company and gave students a complete insight into how to apply for roles with Gotion. There was an opportunity at the end of the presentation to ask questions to gain insights into the company and what they are looking for in future talent.

· Crystal International Group Ltd

Crystal International Group Ltd spoke about their Crystal Associate Programme 2023. During the session they gave an overview of Crystal International Group Ltd, introduced the Crystal Associate Programme and hosted a Q&A session for students to ask any questions they may have.

Crystal Associate Programme

Crystal International Group Ltd recruit high-calibre graduates with passion in the garment industry to join their Associate Programme. They described how they prepare Associates to be top leaders through diversified programmes which offer professional and personal growth and help Associates to build the right skills to succeed in Crystal. They have three function-specific Associate Programmes - Business, Production and Technical – across 2 divisions, Knits and Denim.

· FDM Group China

FDM Group China introduced their company to the students and discussed how their consultant secured his job in China.

· Mazars

Mazars shared the background of Mazars, job openings and application methods to give potential applicants a complete insight into how to apply for roles with Mazars. There was also an opportunity for students to ask questions at the end of the presentation to gain insights into the company and what they are looking for in their talent acquisition.

· Intralink

Intralink introduced their company which is a leading international business development and innovation consultancy with a deep specialism in Asia. They are looking for people who speak Mandarin, Japanese or Korean.

· Lan-bridge Communications UK

Lan-bridge Communications UK gave a brief introduction of Lan-bridge, their business and services, their influence in the translation industry in China, as well as work environments and employment opportunities.

After the session, they hope talents will know more about what it is like to be a translator in-house and hopefully start cooperation with Lan-bridge.

· Shandong Province Companies

A group of companies sharing opportunities across the Shandong province, including: Bohai Rim Advanced Research Institute for Drug Discovery; China National Heavy-Duty Truck Group; Dawn Group; Inspur Group; Jinan International Business Incubator; Jinan Talent Accelerator; Valiant Co. Ltd., Wanhua Chemical Group Co. Ltd., Yantai Nanshan University; and Yantai Returned Scholars Pioneering Park.

· UK-Medu

UK-Medu shared the background of the company, its activities in UK medical education and training and discussed job openings and application methods to give potential applicants a complete insight into how to apply for roles. There was also an opportunity for students to ask questions at the end of the presentation to gain insights into the company and what they are looking for.

· Ireland Chinese Journal

Ireland Chinese Journal explained the organising process and key points of success for some Chinese culture events in Ireland such as Chinese New Year gala, China Ireland International film festival.

· Shulan Chinese Medicine College

Since 1991, Shulan Chinese Medicine College has offered professional training courses. The college currently provides training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and tuina massage. Since 1993, it has also been a clinic offering a range of Traditional Chinese medicine treatments to the public.

· United Kingdom Education Centre

United Kingdom Education Centre (UKEC) spoke about business and studying opportunities in China. They discussed how they can assist students and young professionals to study or work in China.
