Ellel St John’s Primary School Pupils Enjoy Chinese Language and Culture After-School Club

Since February 2023, pupils at Ellel St John’s CE primary school have been enjoying the weekly Chinese language and culture after-school club.
During the Spring term, year 5 and 6 pupils participated in the after-school club to learn about Chinese language and culture and since the Summer term, the club has been open for year 3 and 4 pupils.
The after-school club has given pupils the chance to learn Mandarin and explore Chinese culture through language practice, games and crafts. The children have enjoyed getting to know another language and culture with classmates and Lancaster University Confucius Institute teacher, Ying Li.
As well as being a source of fun and a time to socialise, the after-school club has helped children concentrate and improve their attainment. The children have enjoyed making things in the Chinese club to take home and show their families what they have been learning.
We are very pleased that the Chinese language and culture after-school club will continue at Ellel St John’s Primary School next term along with a Chinese day to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
