New Years Honours for Daniel

Daniel Owens

We are delighted to learn that Daniel Owens (Politics with International Relations, 2010, Furness) has received the MBE in the January New Year's Honours List.

Daniel is the online grocery development manager for Asda and he played a critical role in dramatically increasing the number of home delivery customers who could be served on their website, including the retailer's most vulnerable and shielding customers.

He commented: " Bringing stability to the Online Grocery website, so that as many customers as possible could do their shopping was a huge project, that was delivered in record time. It was a monumental achievement, and the effort put in by the teams across Leeds and our offices in Bangalore and Sunnyvale was nothing short of incredible. The ability to shop online was a lifeline to customers who were no longer able to go out, and making sure we did the right thing by them, underpinned the whole process - I am incredibly proud of what we delivered.

Receiving the letter was one of the more surreal experiences of my life, and it took me a few reads of it to convince myself it was real! It feels strange to be receiving this award as an individual, when so many people pulled together to deliver this, but I am honoured and humbled to be recognised in this way."
