Event Details

Radiation detectors by their very nature are frequently needed to work within harsh environments and can be highly constrained by their implementation inside robotic platforms.

This research looks at the characterisation and use of radiation detectors in several different environments to simulate the conditions inside the reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. In this presentation an overview of the situation inside the reactors at Fukushima will be presented and results from a promising scintillator detector chosen to be deployed on a submersible remotely operated vehicle.
