Engineering student Danielle Kennedy has been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious TargetJobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards. Danielle beat off stiff competition and has now been named as a finalist for the Female Undergraduate of the Year Award 2020 with Rolls-Royce.

The Undergraduate of the Year Awards is a competition open to students across the UK where they can win prizes such as placements, internships and trips abroad with internationally recognised organisations. This year there were 13 different awards that cover a range of academic subjects and skillsets. This is now the 11th year of the awards and over 4,500 students applied.

Professor Claudio Paoloni, Head of Engineering at Lancaster University, said: “I am delighted by the success of Danielle in reaching the final of the challenging Undergraduate of the Year Award 2020. Danielle is a great example of our enthusiastic and talented engineering students and we would like to wish her all the best for the grand final.”

To make it to the final of the Undergraduate of the Year Awards students had to first complete an application, including essay style questions and online tests. Once passing that stage students were either invited to a telephone interview or take part in an assessment centre. Rolls-Royce have been extremely impressed with Danielle and has invited them to the grand final taking place on Friday 4 September where each winner will be announced.

We wish Danielle the very best of luck!
