Professor Jianqiao Ye PhD, CEng, FIMechE

Jianqiao Ye is a Professor and the Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Lancaster University and a member of the Lancaster Intelligent, Robotic and Autonomous Systems Centre (LIRA).
His research covers a broad range of both academic and industrial interests, including: optimization, metamodelling, machine learning, digital twins, failure and damage assessment and damage tolerance of fibre reinforced composites, steel-concrete composite structures, cement and concrete carbonation, offshore oil and gas structures, large floating structures, multiscale modelling of fibre reinforced composites and biological tissues.
Jianqiao has collaborative research with a number of top research institutes around the world, such as NPL, Manchester University, Stanford University and Australian National University. His contributions to industrial applications of composite materials and structures are also internationally recognised. His research has been suported by many leading UK and international companies, including Airbus, QinetiQ, BAE Systems, DSTL, Dunlop and ITASCA. He is currently a Principal Investigator of two EPSRC sponsored projects, respectively, on multiscale modelling of human atria during fibrillation and Multiphysics modelling and optimisation of Persistant Green Air Vehicles (PERGAVE) for an increased Energy Harvest (EH) capacity.
Jianqiao has published three books and over 200 referred papers in international journals and conferences proceedings. His papers have attracted over 3600 citations and a H-index of 35. He has been a regular reviewer, an editorial board member/editor of many international conferences and a number of refereed journals. He is also a member of the ASCE Stability Committee and a Fellow of and Industrial Advisor to the IMechE.
Engineering modules Jianqiao has taught at Lancaster include Mechanics of Materials (ENGR111) and Vibration Analysis and Applications (ENGR352). He is currently teaching Fundamentals of Manufacturing (ENGR112) and Engineering Analysis (ENGR201). He is also an Engineering Program Consultant at Blackpool & Fyle College.
