Furness students

Graduation Day

Your graduation day will be a celebration of all the hard work you've put in over the last few years and formalises your passing from student to graduate - and of course you'll become one of our alumni.

The Ceremonies web pages have general advice and guidance about the day. Take a look to find out all you need to do in advance about what you can expect on the day, including booking tickets and hiring gowns. If you're coming as a guest of a graduating student there's a whole section specifically aimed at you.

Invitation from the Principal

I have great pleasure in inviting you to attend the Furness College graduation celebrations on Friday 19 July 2019. The College celebrations have always been one of the best occasions of the University year and we hope very much that you, your parents, family, friends and partners will be able to attend. Graduation Day is a very special occasion and the College events enable you both to celebrate with your family and friends and to meet up with fellow Furnessians. Book your tickets through the online store for the afternoon tea; this is an extremely popular event. Tickets sell out fast and are available on a first-come-first-served basis, and unfortunately can't be bought on the day. I do hope that you will be able to join me and the other College officers in celebrating this great day.

What to to on the day

Arrive early! Furness College Bar (Trevor) opens at 9.00am and will be serving hot and cold drinks.

Graduands may collect their robes from the LICA Building.

Furness graduands should head to the Great Hall, where you will be directed to line up ready for the ceremony.

Guests with tickets to attend the ceremony will be directed to their seats.

The ceremony begins at 11.00am.

For those guests without tickets to the ceremony, they will be transmitted to watch live in the Faraday Lecture Theatre, and on E-Campus screens around campus including Furness Foyer.

The Furness College photograph will take place in Lancaster Square immediately after the ceremony, at around 12 noon. All graduates are asked to attend as this creates a popular and one-off memento of a year in Furness College.

You will be guided to the stand for this and will need to stay in your robes.

Furness celebrations begin after the photograph at around 12.30pm, with live music and magic in the Furness College quad and foyer. Afternoon Tea will be served in the Foyer (Pre-booked tickets only).

See below for details about how to order your tickets.
