The current JCR President is Taya Hodges and you will get to meet Taya and the rest of the JCR Executive Officers during arrivals day, welcome week and during events throughout the year.
Matthew Wong is the JCR International Officer and contact our international students to discuss any questions or concerns or find out about events within the College.
We as an Exec aim to be as transparent as possible, so if there is anything you want us to discuss, let us know using the email above.
We re-elect our exec team every November, but there are often by-elections each term to fill any spaces that have been vacated. We'll let you know on all our social media Instagram page which positions are available, and what the responsibilities of each position are. Being part of the JCR exec is a fantastic opportunity to shape student experience and bolster your future job applications, and we would love to see you put yourself forward.
We may be a small college but we can still cobble together a team and give the others a good game! From football and netball to pool and darts, there are plenty of ways Furness students can have a casual game, or join a team to represent us. There's also the Patriots Cup against Cartmel, the University-wide Carter Shield and even the annual Roses clash with the University of York. Take a look at the sports page for more details.

Our comprehensive support network starts with our JCR Executive Officers, First Year Reps and includes the college officers, 24-hour security during term-time and the University's main Student Services team. Take a look at our Welfare and Support page to find out who's on hand and what they do.

Our college bar, Trevor, is situated in the Furness College building and it flows in to the JCR, quad and a smaller patio terrace. You can use all of the space through the day and evening and you'll usually find plenty of people around socialising, working or just relaxing. There are many student events through the year so keep an eye on what's coming up.
During term-time, the bar is open Monday - Friday from 12pm until 11pm and on Saturdays from 5pm until 11pm. There are plenty of events taking place in the bar, so remember to follow Trevor bar on Instagram.
There's a weekly college quiz night which takes place at 7pm every Thursday night during term-time and is free to enter. Plus our JCR Socials and Events team organise additional events such as live music and our very own Trevaoke.
Trev stocks a wide variety of craft beers, ales and ciders behind the bar and hosts an annual Beer Festival.
The JCR Common room has 2 free-play pool tables, table tennis table, and a dart board and the adjacent TV lounge also boasts a large TV, and has a book nook area.
The college kitchen is located along the office corridor just off the Furness foyer and provides a place for students living off-campus to rest and cook during the day. There's an oven, fridges and a microwave, and a breakfast bar and dining table to sit at. Tea and coffee facilities are available, free of charge to our students and staff.
Off-campus students can also hire a locker for the duration of the academic year (October-June). This is useful for storing any belongings that you don't want to carry with you all day. Lockers are limited and are located in our off-campus kitchen. You can hire your locker for a £10 refundable deposit via the eStore which opens just prior to the start of the academic year.
Next to the kitchen is a study room with a quiet environment and some computers for our students to work individually or in groups. All desks are located next to plug sockets and USB ports, along with desk lamps and individual desk white boards, so is the ideal place to bring your laptop to study and work on your assignments.
Access to the college kitchen and study room is available each day from 8am to midnight for students in Furness College.
We have Furness branded merchandise for sale, from trolley coins, water bottles and ties to college hoodies. Simply place your order and then arrange collection from the college office.
