Do you want to represent Furness College and be part of our Debating Team? Find out more at this Introductory Session - open to all undergraduates

The annual inter-College debating competition is back! This challenge will commence and conclude in Michaelmas term 2022.

We need you to sign up to take part and represent Furness College.

If you want to meet new people, develop your presentation skills, team working and research skills then this is the challenge for you! Along with the coveted Debating Mace, the winning team will also win a cash prize.

Debating is a process of formal discussion around a topic in which the participants are assigned a viewpoint with the aim of persuading people. This helps us think more critically, engage with opposing views and improve our public speaking. The topic for each debate will be revealed a week ahead of time to allow your team to prepare.

We require three speakers (first year students only) and a team of researchers (any year) for each undergraduate college team.

The Debating Competition is just one of the inter-collegiate competitions that run during the year, and this one is supported and coordinated by Lancaster Debating Union.
