To mark the start of British Sandwich Week, join Furness College for a summer term picnic which includes lots of free food!

British Sandwich Week 2026 runs from 16th to 22nd May

British Sandwich Week is an annual celebration of one of the UK’s most iconic foods—the sandwich, which was invented in the 18th century by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who famously requested his meat be served between slices of bread to continue playing cards without getting greasy fingers.

On Monday 18 May, join us from 12noon in Furness Foyer where we will have lots of sandwiches for you to choose from, including crisps and fruit. If it is a lovely day then why not borrow one of the college picnic blankets and have a picnic outside whilst taking some time out during the examination season.

Food is served on a first-come, first served basis until all is gone. All welcome!
