Furness offers a number of different places for you to gather and socialise, all grouped around our courtyard in the main college building.

The Off‑Campus Kitchen, located in the main college building, is open to all Furness students and staff who want a comfortable place to unwind.

The kitchen is fully equipped for quick breaks or longer study sessions. You’ll find hot and cold water tap, a microwave, an oven and hob, and two fridges ready for use. Whether you’re heating up lunch or grabbing a drink, everything you need is right there. There’s also a mix of seating — a sofa, bar stools, and a six‑seat table — making it easy to relax solo or catch up with friends.

To make life even easier, the kitchen is stocked throughout term with tea, coffee, sugar, long‑life milk, juice and a full range of cutlery, plates, cups, pots and pans. And every so often, you might spot some freebies like pasties, porridge pots, cereal bars, soup or fruit — perfect for a morning or mid‑day boost.

If you’re unsure where the Off‑Campus Kitchen is, just ask any member of the College Team, the JCR Exec, or the Porters, and they’ll point you in the right direction.

Commuter students can also take advantage of locker hire for the academic year. Deposits can be paid via the Estore, and once processed, College Manager Jo Dickinson will get in touch to arrange key collection.

The college asks everyone using the space to help keep it welcoming for all — so please wash up your cups and plates before you head out.

Make this your go-to space on campus.
