Your JCR Sports Officers, Tom and Taya, are gearing up for one of the biggest and most exciting events of the year: the 2026 Patriots competition against Cartmel College.

This is your chance to be part of something energetic, competitive, and truly memorable.

What is Patriots?

Patriots is the annual showdown between Furness and our rival college, Cartmel.

Furness has claimed victory for the past four years, and we’re determined to carry that winning streak this year.

Every event contributes points, and the college with the highest total by the end of Saturday takes home the trophy. Many Furness alumni also return to compete and proudly represent the college.

This is the moment in the year when we want everyone across Furness to get involved. Read on to learn more about the competition and how to sign up if you’d like to take part.

Patriots Trials - your opportunity to sign up and join

There are plenty of sports to play in from and we need plenty of people to help retain the Patriots Shield and title for 2026. These include:

Table-Tennis

Quiz

Dodgeball

Chess **

Doubles-Badminton

Rounders

** Trials will take place on Wednesday 25 February at 2pm in the Furness TV Room for Mario Kart 8, Connect Four, and Chess. **

Please Note:

You have to be a member of Furness College to play in Patriots.

Before each and every game, student IDs will be checked to confirm you are a Furness student.
