The accommodation portal has now opened for summer vacation applications. Bookings can be made for all or part of the vacation, though the minimum duration for any booking is 14 nights (two weeks). If you require only short term accommodation you should contact Guestrooms via the Conference Office.

If you have any queries after reading this page, contact summer-accommodation@lancaster.ac.uk.

Who is eligible?

Any full-time student of the University is eligible to make a booking. We are unable to accommodate non-students including family, friends and relatives though, so if you are looking for something for them you’ll need to contact our Guestrooms team or local hotels. If you are graduating this summer we can only consider an application up to the end of graduation week (Monday 21 July).

Please note that the first day you can book from is Monday 7 July. The last day for arrivals into Summer Accommodation is Saturday 6 September, and the last night you may stay if you have already checked in by that point is Friday 19 September.

What are the rules?

Terms and Conditions of residence remain the same as those published on our website. You will also be bound by the Student Discipline Regulations.

You are responsible for keeping the corridors and stairways clear of boxes and belongings at all times as failure to do so constitutes a breach of our fire safety practices. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.

You must keep the kitchen clean, and remove all your personal items when you leave.

You may not smoke or vape anywhere in the buildings.

As this is short-term accommodation you may not have visitors overnight. If they are a student they will need to make their own booking, or else stay elsewhere.

When should I book?

You can make a booking now if you already know what dates you want to stay. Rooms are subject to availability.

You will need to make any booking at least seven days before you want it to start.

For bookings starting in the first week of the vacation period please note that availability is limited and the deadline to apply is Monday 9 June.

What kind of rooms are available?

Furness College accommodation will be available. There will be rooms with private bathrooms at £191.10 per week, and rooms with shared bathrooms at £139.58 per week. Minimum booking length is 14 nights. Furness College Porters will handle keys and security for both during the summer.

Please note that given the limited availability of rooms and regular turnover of residents, we are unable to offer single-gender accommodation. You may request it on your application but as with other preferences we can't guarantee to provide it.

When will I need to pay?

After you submit your application you will receive a confirmation email with arrival instructions and your invoice - note that these will be issued after the initial 9 June deadline in the first instance.

You will need to pay in advance of your arrival, and keys will be issued by the Porter only upon presentation of the appropriate receipt. You should pay online with a card and will receive an email receipt.

What time can I arrive and when must I vacate the room?

Check in time for any booking is 2.00pm, and you must leave by 10.00am on the day of departure.

Please note that we are unable to accommodate students in debt to the University, or those who have breached the residence rules or Student Code of Discipline before. Where applicants are known to pose a high risk to themselves or others we will also review their needs as part of the process.
