FASS departments hosted the 1st International Conference on Postgraduate Student-led Research and Innovation in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

As part of Lancaster University’s longstanding research collaboration with Sunway University and newly developing research collaboration with the National University of Malaysia, an international conference featuring original work of postgraduate taught and research students from the three partner universities was organised on 2nd-4th June.

The conference offered spaces for student research sharing and networking via three FASS disciplines’ tailored theoretical strands: “Language and Linguistics”, “Psychology and Education” and “Sociology” . The event also featured six interdisciplinary keynote speeches delivered by members of academic staff from the three partner universities: Dr. Nur Ehsan Bin Mohd Said and Dr Novel Lyndon from the National University of Malaysia, Professor Don Passey, Dr. Oksana Afitska and Dr Yang Hu from Lancaster University, and Dr. Mei-Hua Lin from Sunway University.

The conference was attended by over 150 delegates from almost 30 countries. The event was opened by the universities’ members from senior leadership teams with the words of support and encouragement for the new initiative.
