Dr Lucy Burnett

Lecturer in Creative Writing

Research Overview

I write poetry and experimental prose, with three published poetry collections and one hybrid novel. I'm currently writing a further poetry collection called The Long Wood which explores childhood trauma in the context of place, and a nonfiction travel narrative about a year I spent potato farming in Spain. I’m committed to outreach work, and continue to develop Scree: a Digital Guidebook to Reimagining the Lake District fells. My key research interests are contemporary poetry and poetics, literature and the environment (especially climate change / landscape), poetry and movement, hybrid writing, and with developing interests in the writing of trauma.
