Session 1: Making sense of critical thinking | Wednesday 28 January | 13.00-14.00 | Grizedale Common Room
Critical thinking is one of the central practices of Western universities, but it is a very normal to be confused about exactly what this term means. Yet improving critical thinking is vital, not least because improving your critical thinking is often the key to improving your marks. Session 2: Making sense of your life with narrative thinking | Wednesday 18 February | 13.00-14.00 | Grizedale Common Room
There is one important academic skill that we routinely neglect in Western academia – narrative thinking. In this short session, you will learn the foundations of narrative and how to apply these to the story of your own life, in exercises that will encourage you to face your past and imagine your future. We will look beyond popular but debunked theories of narrative, such as the hero’s journey and the seven plots, to understand the four real components of narrative – plot, character, world, and narrator. As you will discover, it is understanding these that will help improve your general creativity. Find out more and register via libcal
