Applications for a Travel Award may be made by undergraduate members of the College
The College has a small amount of money available for undergraduates who wish to travel for personal enhancement/ educational purposes during the Easter and Summer vacations. The award is open to full and part-time Lonsdale undergraduate students (not for final year students).
We have a total of 10 awards of £250 each (the amount of the awards have varied and are generally made from £50 - £250). Applications will be judged by the Senior Advisor, JCR President and College Manager who will look for applications which show a personal enhancement/ educational component but do NOT relate to your University scheme of study. Lonsdale Travel Awards are not intended to support compulsory elements of your course, for example, the Year Abroad during language studies, a field trip or study visit, nor are awards made to final year students or previous successful applicants.
Funds are awarded for voluntary activities in the UK or abroad which enhance or further your academic studies, for example, attending a course or conference, an academic project, a study visit or expedition, a cultural experience, work experience related to a voluntary or charitable organisation.
Previous awards have supported experiences including:
- Polish Students’ Conference
- Project with Sunway University, Malaysia
- Camp America
- Camp Thailand
- Fiji project
- LUSU overseas to China
The recipient of the award is required to submit a report on their educational travel by the second week of the following term; the award will be deemed a loan until the report has been completed.
Applications should be completed and submitted no later than 12 noon on the following dates:
EASTER Vacation Travel - Thursday 20 February 2020 (Week 16)
SUMMER Vacation Travel - Thursday 28 May 2020 (Week 26)
