On Friday 11th February, staff and students from the department joined one of the weekly ECOWoods sessions, in support of the department's sustainability pledges. Fully equipped with wellies, spades and mallets, the volunteers planted around 100 oak and beech tree saplings.

The sessions was enjoyed by all, with several participants keen to engage with the ECOWoods project on an ongoing basis.

One of the volunteers, Jan Grabowski, said "Working as a team with the Green Lancaster staff and the undergraduate and postgraduate students, it was really rewarding to look at all the saplings we had planted at the end of the session. It felt like we'd made a small but significant contribution to our local environment."
