A key feature of the Cinema Culture in 1930s Britain collection is the interviews that were conducted during the mid-1990s in four UK locations, Glasgow, East Anglia, the London suburb of Harrow, and Greater Manchester (including a significant number from the large town of Bolton): these locations were carefully chosen to give a spread of settlement patterns and class and regional cultures. (see the CCINTB Research Design page for further details).
The tapes of 105 of these interviews have been digitised and their accompanying transcripts standardised, fully-synced and searchable. If you would like to explore the interviews and learn more about the interviewees themselves, please visit the Search the Archive page to access the project database.
