Clinical Research Governance Team

The University’s Clinical Research Governance Team are here to support with and oversee all health and social care research activity falling under the remit of the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, or research with a legal or policy requirement for a formal sponsor. That said, it is essential we are made aware of all potential clinical research activity, so we can provide input as early as possible in study development. Please contact us for general guidance and advice.

We also support the Health and Social Care Research Sponsorship committee, chaired by Professor Jo Rycroft-Malone, to co-ordinate the University's sponsorship function, and work closely with the Lancaster University Sponsor Representative and the Head of Research Quality and Policy-Becky Gordon. Please note that we do not currently sponsor CTIMPs.

Please be aware that due to annual leave and staff illness, we will be unable to undertake full sponsorship reviews for applications or amendments between 25th March and 13th April.

The cut‑off date for review of new sponsorship applications will be 18th March. We will make every effort to review any applications received after this date, but we cannot guarantee completion before the dates above.

A member of the team will continue to monitor the sponsorship inbox for urgent queries and will carry out initial screening checks on any applications received, to help ensure progress while full reviews are temporarily paused.
