Sport Lancaster 3G pitch improvements

From Monday 16 June to Thursday 31 July work will take place to upgrade the Sport Lancaster 3G pitch facilities. The improvements will ensure the pitch continues to meet the specifications required for World Rugby and FIFA accreditation.
The project will include the removal and replacement of the existing pitch carpet, which will be fully recycled and reused. Security around the area will be improved, including changes to the way users access the pitch. The height of the existing perimeter fence will also be increased from three to six metres to prevent unauthorised access.
Please be aware that the footpath adjacent to the sports pitches will be closed from the 3G pitch to the Alexandra Park BBQ area. The nearby cycle parking will also be taken out of use.
Green Lane and the Woodland Trail footpath will remain open.
The 3G and Lacrosse pitches will be out of use for the duration of the works. The grass pitches will also be taken out of use to enable the Grounds team to carry out annual maintenance. Access to the Astroturf pitches and cricket nets will be maintained.
Some disruption is expected in the area throughout the works, particularly during heavy vehicle activity and the delivery of large materials at the start of the project.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions about the work taking place, contact the Facilities Helpdesk on facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk or 01524 593333 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
