Triathlon 2022

Female taking part in Triathlon event

Following the success of the first event in 2016, the sprint distance triathlon at Lancaster University is back!

If you’ve ever felt the urge to Try-a-Tri now is your chance. The perfect event for beginners, you have the choice to either go it alone or why not build a team and choose to participate in the sport you like best.

The Triathlon will consist of three legs, participants can take part in the event on Sunday 4th September. The Triathlon will consist of:

  • 400m Swim
  • 20km Bike
  • 5km Run

All taking place on Lancaster University campus.

All proceeds from this event will go to St John's Hospice & Cancer Care. You can also get sponsorship for your efforts (a great additional incentive to complete the challenge).

This event is organised in memory of Andy Bailey, Dr Andy Bailey was a much loved and respected colleague at Lancaster University Management School from 1997-2015 who died suddenly at the age of 49. Andy will be most fondly remembered by those privileged to have known him as a scholar who was outstanding at translating the academic theory of strategic management and change management to the everyday complexity of practice. Perhaps most importantly colleagues, students, and friends would genuinely describe him as a "great bloke". He was an understated man, gracious in his time to all, kind to a fault.

We are asking participants to register their place

Individual fundraising, in addition, will be very much welcomed for one/ both charities. Over the years, the event has raised £26,000+ for both charities combined and we would love to continue to support them.

Entries will close on Sunday 21st August and refunds can be processed up until this date also.

Places can be transferred to another person after this date up until Sunday 28th August.
