Dr Martin McAinsh

My research centres on the response of plants to climate change-related stresses through integrated studies of plant-environment interactions at the whole-plant, cellular and molecular levels. I am specifically interested in the response of plants to drought, elevated carbon dioxide, high rhizospheric calcium and ozone stress. The objective of my research is to address outstanding questions relating to specificity in stress signalling pathways with the aim of extending understanding of the cellular/molecular basis of plant stress tolerance thereby contributing to agricultural sustainability and food security, and the maintenance of biodiversity in vulnerable plant communities.
