My research is focussed on planetary volcanic processes; I am currently investigating magmatic heat transfer in the cryosphere of Mars. Many landforms have been identified on the surface of Mars which appear to have been formed by varied magma-cryosphere interaction mechanisms, these processes have played a large part in the geological evolution of Mars. I am conducting laboratory analogue experiments to investigate the thermal and physical changes which occur during these interactions. The results will be used to model full scale interactions identified on Mars by providing constraints on the range of behaviours which occur due to different environmental conditions.
