Sessional - Research

My research involves the development of novel in-situ sensors for direct quantification of metal speciation and bio-availability in environment and the assessment of their biological effects.

I haveĀ  been incorporating cell cultures into sensors that can be used to measure metals exposure to biota in natural waters and assess their potential impact on human and ecological health. Within this project I have been using various inter-disciplinary techniques that allow the development of novel devices containing physical and biological components which mimic precisely the uptake of metals by biota and determine their toxic effects.
