Research Overview

My research focuses on the informal commerce of Recife, Brazil and the particular role that ICT (Information and Communication Technology) plays out in the daily work activities of street traders, as well as by City Council officials on their pursuit to formalize this sector and on traders’ unions in their efforts to shape what formalisation is to become in practice.
