More than just a game! Come and join us where players can share their love for the game, and learn from each other, making it a fun and engaging activity for all people.

Chess is often thought of as a solitary game, a battle of minds where two individuals face off in a quiet, brainy contest. However, there’s another side of chess that is just as important: its social aspect.

While players certainly need to focus and think deeply during the game, chess also plays a vital role in bringing people together, building friendships, and creating communities. Chess has also been shown to have positive effects on mental wellness.

No experience is needed for this event and we welcome all abilities. We hope those who are experienced can help share their love for the game and encourage more people to learn and enjoy the many social benefits that chess has to offer.

We have plenty of chess sets available. A typical game can last from 10 minutes to an hour, depending the players' skill level, maybe longer!

Join us on Sunday 18th January at 2pm until 4pm in Trevor Bar, Furness College.
