Event Details

Join the Green Lancaster team's weekly ECOWoods sessions and take part in hands-on conservation work.

The sessions will take place every Friday either at Forrest Hills or on campus and include activities such as tree planting, spring bulb planting, wildflower meadow, hedgerow & woodland management, natural building, and tree tubes and stakes maintenance.

The ECOWoods project encompasses all of the woodland creation, management and conservation practical work across the campus estate, Hazelrigg and Forrest Hills, via a year-round programme of activity. Students and staff members are encouraged to take part in the project by volunteering. Volunteering with ECOWoods, offers direct and practical responses to the climate and ecological emergencies, as the project restores the local landscape, increases biodiversity, sequesters carbon from the atmosphere and protects against flooding. Get involved, gain practical experience and help with nature regeneration!

Please meet at the ECOHub on Alexandra Park, from where we will make our way on foot to the day’s location.

Please ensure you are wearing appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing. If you would like to, you will be able to borrow waterproofs and wellies on the day. Gloves and equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink with you as we usually have an al fresco a tea-break during the session. We will provide tea for all participants.

For any updates on this specific session, please check out our Facebook event.

We welcome members of the local community to Green Lancaster events, however participants must be aged 18 or over. Under 18’s can only take part in events delivered in collaboration with local schools, colleges or youth organisations.

Please contact us on green@lancaster.ac.uk in advance of the session if you have reduced mobility or accessibility requirements.
