In this paper presentation, Hilary will draw on recent work in the UK, Uganda, Europe, Colombia and Mexico to argue that modern day education for global peace needs to be supplemented by perspectives from postmodernity, from the global South and East, and from energy and land-oriented indigenous traditions if it is to meet the challenges faced by global warming, and by the changing face of war. She will suggest that rationality and conflict resolution skills-building are part of a larger whole that also needs to take account of affect, embodiment, and spirituality. She will show how her work attempts to rise to this challenge, drawing on the work of Johan Galtung, Jean-Paul Lederach and Wolfgang Dietrich, and also on data from her various visual voices projects in different parts of the world.
