All welcome to the opening of Rina Srabonian's flamenco photography exhibition. The event features a performance by the artist and a round table related to flamenco as a culture with participants from the School of Global Affairs, the Sociology Department and the Instituto Cervantes Manchester.

Ole Flamenco! Rina Srabonian Photography Exhibition features a captivating selection of photographs curated by the artist Rina Srabonian, captured in flamenco events in Spain and the UK. Through her lens, Srabonian beautifully portrays the strength, movement, and passion that flamenco embodies within the community. The exhibition takes us on a visual journey showcasing renowned contemporary flamenco artists such as Paula Comitre, Manuel Liñán, and Diego del Morao, alongside revered figures representing the roots and traditions of flamenco, including Tía Juana la del Pipa, Nano de Jerez, and Romerito de Jerez.

Lancaster University's School of Global Affairs, the Consulate General of Spain in Manchester, the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester, and the International Flamenco Instituto of Jerez invite you to the opening of the Ole Flamenco! Rina Srabonian Photography Exhibition at the Lancaster University Library on 8th of May at 13.15 in the LIB - Flexible Space LG026 (next to the library, entrance is opposite the Deli). The opening promises to be an immersive experience. There will be a round table of participants from the School of Global Affairs, LU Sociology Department and the Cervantes Institute, who will dialogue with Rina Srabonian on the topics of Spanish culture, flamenco, Romani culture and the understanding of culture through photography. There will be a flamenco performance of cante jondo (flamenco singing) by Srabonian after the round table.

The exhibition will be on display from 2nd May until 13th June 2025 in the Lancaster University Library Foyer.

Rina Srabonian, born in the Middle East with an Armenian background (Ռինա Սրապոնեան), pursued studies in Interior Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and has been residing in the UK ever since. With a versatile career spanning both 2D and 3D design disciplines, including digital and editorial platforms, Srabonian has excelled in creating exhibition stands and marketing materials for large corporate events. Her role involved strategic planning, technical expertise, and collaboration with extensive teams, delivering visually compelling communication tailored to specific audiences. Passionate about flamenco, she captures her work as a photographer at the Festival de Bulería de Jerez in her collection, Ole Flamenco!.
