Join the Green Lancaster team's weekly ECOWild Walk for a chance to identify, observe and record flora and fauna, as well as to take time to intentionally connect with the rest of the natural world.
To monitor biodiversity on university land (Bailrigg campus, Hazelrigg and Forrest Hills), we use the iRecord app. By uploading our species sightings to the app, we help provide biodiversity information that contributes to nature conservation, planning, research and education. We will provide binoculars and identification books.
Through simple activities and exercises, we also hope to provide participants with the tools and opportunity to nurture their relationship with nature.
Please meet at the ECOHub on Alexandra Park, from where we will set off for our walk across campus and/or Forrest Hills.
Please ensure you are wearing appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing. If you would like to, you will be able to borrow waterproofs and wellies on the day. You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink with you as we usually have an al fresco a tea-break during the session. We will provide tea for all participants.
We welcome members of the local community to Green Lancaster events, however participants must be aged 18 or over. Under 18’s can only take part in events delivered in collaboration with local schools, colleges or youth organisations.
For any updates on this specific walk, please check out our Facebook event.
Please contact us on green@lancaster.ac.uk in advance of the session if you have reduced mobility or accessibility requirements.
