Research Overview

I am undertaking a MRes focused on the physical volcanology of mantle xenolith transport and eruption. Mantle xenoliths provide critical constraints on lithospheric composition, thermal structure, and magmatic processes, yet the mechanisms by which they are entrained, transported, and erupted remain poorly constrained. My research integrates quantitative 3D modelling of xenolith size and shape with petrographic and mineral-chemical characterisation, including scanning electron microscopy, to investigate their textural and geochemical signatures. These datasets will be incorporated into eruption and transport models to advance understanding of xenolith behaviour in explosive volcanic systems and their role in recording mantle processes.
