Research Overview

Dr Paul Scholefield is an environmental scientist at Lancaster Environment Centre, specialising in landscape ecology, biodiversity monitoring and environmental data science. He led development of the Great Britain Woody Linear Features Framework, a national model of hedgerows and tree lines, and was principal investigator of the RUNOFF aerial-AI demonstrator. His current work integrates field inventories, LiDAR, Earth observation, eDNA and bioacoustics to assess forest restoration across Europe. A Design Council Expert in emerging technologies and green infrastructure, he connects ecological evidence with sustainable landscape design. His wider research spans biogeochemistry, hydrology and reproducible ecological modelling.
