Research Overview

Dr Paul Scholefield is an environmental scientist and ecological data specialist whose research integrates biodiversity monitoring, Earth observation and reproducible data systems. At Lancaster Environment Centre, he develops workflows combining eDNA metabarcoding, passive bioacoustics, field inventories, LiDAR, UAV imagery and spatial modelling to assess European forest restoration. Earlier work at UKCEH, APEM, Lancaster University and ADAS covered national-scale ecological modelling, water quality, ecosystem services and environmental consultancy. He led the RUNOFF aerial-AI demonstrator and developed national products for woody linear features and riparian habitats. His research record includes 22 journal articles and seven published datasets.
