About us
Geospatial Data Science (GsDS) is an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on the development of cutting-edge methods for Earth observation, geographical information systems, spatial and spatio-temporal statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and spatially distributed dynamic models. Scientific enquiry is generally the basis for motivating method development.
Application areas of interest include:
- Planetary changes, including anthropogenically-driven land cover-land use changes
- Climate changes and their impacts on the environment
- Natural hazards in the context of disaster risk reduction
- Ecological systems and their representation including global biodiversity loss
- The agricultural systems that underpin global food security
- Vector-borne disease transmission systems from an ecological perspective
