Planetary Science

Earth from space

About us

Our planetary science research group investigates the formation, evolution, and current dynamics of planetary bodies within and beyond our Solar System.

We study planetary surfaces, atmospheres, and interiors using a combination of remote sensing, laboratory simulations, and comparative planetology. By analysing data from space missions, telescopes, and analogue environments on Earth, we explore processes such as volcanism, impact cratering, and climate evolution on planets and moons.

Planetary science bridges disciplines, connecting geoscience, atmospheric science, and astrobiology. Our research contributes to understanding planetary habitability, informing the search for life beyond Earth and guiding future exploration and mission design.
