About us
The Environmental Chemistry and Pollution group at LEC investigates the sources, behaviour, and impacts of pollutants in the environment. Our research focuses on understanding the chemical processes that govern the fate and transport of contaminants across air, water and soil using advanced analytical techniques and modelling tools.
We study a wide range of substances, including persistent organic pollutants, emerging contaminants, heavy metals, and greenhouse gases, to track how these chemicals move through and transform within environmental systems, and to quantify their risks to ecosystems and human health.
By collaborating with government stakeholders, industry, and civil society to generate robust, policy-relevant data, the Environmental Chemistry and Pollution group supports evidence-based decision-making to improve the environment.
