Researching language in health communication:

Reflections on collaborations across disciplines

Prof. Elena Semino

In this talk I reflect on my past, present and future research projects on health communication, with a particular focus on collaborations with colleagues and practitioners outside my own field of Linguistics. The projects are concerned with communication about cancer, chronic pain, mental illness, social care and vaccinations, and involve different types of collaborations. I will share what I have learnt from these collaborations and point out areas where I would welcome fresh perspectives and new collaborations..
