Dr Johanna Laakso of Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) presents the results of work on the potential of soils and sediments for storing phosphorus.
Constructed wetlands and ponds are installed to trap suspended material and particulate phosphorus (P) in agricultural runoff. This study investigated whether the P speciation and sorption capacity of source soils differ from sediments and whether dredging of sediment changes its characteristics.
