In line with Lancaster University’s commitment to supporting and improving the Wellbeing of staff and students, the Lancaster Environment Centre strive to provide a supportive environment with activities, opportunities and time to look after our wellbeing.
The NHS says – when it comes to our wellbeing, other people matter. Evidence shows that good relationships – with family, friends and our wider communities, including the workplace – are important for our mental wellbeing.
Mind, the Mental Health Charity, says mental wellbeing describes your mental state – how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life. If you have good mental wellbeing you are able to:-
- Feel relatively confident in yourself and have positive self esteem
- Build and maintain good relationships with others
- Feel engaged with the world around you
- Live and work productively
- Cope with the stresses of daily life
- Adopt and manage in times of change and uncertainty
By providing spaces to maintain and improve wellbeing we can foster the confident, engaged, resilient and productive staff and students needed to (fulfil, tackle, work towards) our vision to address global environmental challenges.
LEC has a Wellbeing Officer, to communicate and promote the department’s efforts and liaise with faculty wide wellbeing champions.
