About Us

We are a group of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise working on a range of topics that target improved fundamental understanding of plant biology and provision of solutions to real-world problems. Our expertise spans from molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry to plant stress physiology, phenotyping, and biogeography within the plant sciences. Our focal areas of research are:

  • Agricultural biotechnology and engineering
  • Improving crop resource use efficiency
  • Understanding plant-insect and plant-pathogen interactions
  • Identifying how plants are adapted and respond to their external environment
  • Characterising global plant photosynthetic diversity and biogeography

We seek for our research to have real-world impact by combining our expertise with those of external industry and academic partners and collaborators. Taking advantage of extensive facilities available within LEC, and linking extensively with national and international partnerships, we deliver world-leading Plant Biology research.
